We're pleased to offer the following services at River Run Animal Hospital:
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
What an amazing year! It is hard to believe that we will be soon celebrating our first anniversary of opening. We have been blessed with amazing and supportive clients with whom we have developed lasting friendships. Our goal is always to enrich the bond you share with your beloved pet through excellent veterinary care. And to that goal we feel we have set the bar for excellence in this area. We have been pleased to offer this level of care 24 hours a day these past 10 months. As we have grown, we have encountered a few new challenges that threaten our ability to offer the level of care we strive to achieve. Unfortunately, the availability of professional staff (veterinarians and veterinary technicians) willing and able to work after hours has become scarce. The costs, quality, and reliability of temporary or relief staff has not always been consistent with our high standard of veterinary care at a reasonable price.
Because of this shortage of veterinary professional staff we will not be able to continue operating 24 hours, 7 days a week. We will continue to offer extended hours to accommodate work schedules and evening/weekend emergencies. Our new hours will be from 8am -10 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. We will no longer be open on holidays. This change will go into effect October 18th, 2019. Fortunately, the greater Richmond area has 5 facilities that currently offer emergency care 24 hours a day and on holidays. We would be more than happy to discuss the clinic that might best fit your personal needs when we are not available.
While we realize that many of you appreciated the fact that we were available 24 hours a day, this is one of the main reasons you chose to partner with us in caring for your pet. We also know that historically, most of the emergencies we see occur during the hours for which we will still be open. By limiting our hours, we will be better able to offer quality, consistent care and more availability with the primary doctors with whom you have come to know and trust.
Change is always difficult. We will continue to partner with you in providing the best possible care for your pets tailored individually to your needs. We hope you will continue the wonderful relationship you have already established with us. If you have any questions regarding these changes please feel free to call us.
River Run Animal Hospital is unique in that not only do we provide traditional based medicine, but also holistic care. Whether you have a geriatric pet or a pet that you feel would benefit from a non-traditional / alternative form of therapy and medicine, we are happy to provide these services to you. Dr. Cathy Blanchong is our veterinarian on staff that specializes in acupuncture, chiropractic and herbal medicine.
Our hospital is fully equipped to take care of all your pet needs through wellness and sickness, in all its stages of life. From pediatrics to geriatrics, our staff are well educated and experienced to keep your pet healthy. Our preventative care includes semi to annual physical exams, vaccines, vaccine titers, and routine diagnostic screenings. Our doctors and staff work closely with our clients and their pets in order that we may provide the best recommendations and guidelines to keep your pet healthy in all its stages of life.
Soft Tissue Surgery and Dentals
Our newly renovated surgical suite allows our doctors to perform elective and non-elective soft tissue surgeries. Surgeries are scheduled in advance once after a surgical consult has been performed by one of our attending veterinarians. Our licensed veterinary technicians monitors your pet during and after its surgical procedure with the newest anesthetic monitors to ensure your pet has a safe and speedy recovery. Unfortunately due to space confinement in our hospital we are not able to perform dental procedures. However if we feel your pet is need of a dental procedure, we will refer you to one of our partnering veterinary offices and/or dental specialist.
We limit species seen primarily to cats and dogs. During our extended hours operating time when other clinics are not open, we are able to provide basic triage care for most species including birds and small mammals; however, we strongly recommend Wellesley Animal Hospital for routine care of exotic pets such as birds, pocket pets, and reptiles. We are not equipped to see livestock or farm animals.
Because a large number of veterinarians practice at River Run Animal Hospital, we can care for many types of pets:
